I am a chartered counselling psychologist with a specialist interest and expertise in the psychological assessment and treatment of trauma, substance misuse and attachment disorders. I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a practising psychologist. I am registered with the British Psychological Society as an expert witness for the above.

 

I have relevant and extensive experience over a number of years in conducting medico-legal psychological assessments for individuals who have suffered psychological injury as a direct consequence of experiencing various traumas, such as childhood sexual abuse, industrial accidents and road traffic accidents, and clinical negligence arising from surgery. Assessment includes the writing of comprehensive psychological reports detailing my findings and making the appropriate therapeutic recommendations.

 

I have also conducted parental psychological assessments for various councils and social services within the Warwickshire area related to child welfare, child protection and adoption cases and attended court as an expert witness in child protection and child care proceedings.

 

Assessments

Psychological assessments are performed using the DSM-V (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, 2013) clinical criteria for diagnosis and the rigour of psychometric testing to support the findings. The assessment consists of using extensive theoretical and academic training to inform psychological formulation in which to make the appropriate diagnosis, establishing causation, and clinical opinion on likely prognosis and recommendations for psychological therapy. Assessments are usually offered within 4 to 6 weeks of instruction.

 

Report writing

Reports are carefully written, formatted and checked for accuracy to ensure high standards of clinical presentation and ease of reading and referencing. We endeavour to complete psychological reports within 3 to 4 weeks of assessment.
